Andy Kaelin

Andy Kaelin

LEAD CONSULTANT & MANAGING MEMBER

Andy Kaelin is a Founder of KBIC Consulting and serves as its Managing Member. Andy leads the firm’s strategic vision, client relationships, and business operations. Since establishing KBIC, Andy has built the company into a trusted partner for organizations seeking objective insurance processes, with a focus on driving growth, operational efficiency, and long-term value. Today, KBIC proudly serves more than 70 clients largely focused on real estate, construction, manufacturing, and non-profits.

Andy began his career at Federated Insurance, where he served in four (4) different roles and ultimately was responsible for the sales team in Central Indiana. During his tenure, Andy and his team consistently delivered top sales achievements showing particular acumen for unique self-insured solutions for employers. Andy was recognized for his ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams while building lasting client partnerships. His experience leading diverse markets equipped him with a deep understanding of client service, organizational leadership, and sustainable business growth—skills he continues to apply at KBIC today.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Andy is deeply invested his community, serving on two boards, volunteering at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, and serving in the FBI Citizens Academy. Andy lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife and their three sons.

Rob Brogan

Rob Brogan

LEAD CONSULTANT & MEMBER

Rob Brogan is the Co-Founder and Member of KBIC Consulting, serving as a Lead Consultant for more than 15 years. During his time at KBIC, Rob has continuously served as a Health and Welfare Lead Consultant, specializing mainly in the small business unit with extensive experience in ICHRAs, non-profits, and complex classed employees. Today, Rob serves as the fractional Vice President of Internal Insurance Operations for more than 25 clients across a diverse range of industries.

Prior to founding KBIC, Rob successfully grew a waste management company with three partners to $5 million in revenue before exiting through a sale. This venture demonstrated his entrepreneurial drive and ability to scale businesses strategically, while also sharpening his expertise in operations, growth management, and client solutions. His combination of entrepreneurial leadership and consulting knowledge continues to shape KBIC’s approach to serving its clients.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Rob is an active member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church and The Fort Ben Rotary Club.  He also serves his community by coaching youth football. He lives in Indiana with his wife, their daughter, and their son. In his free time, Rob enjoys playing golf and watching sports.

C. Brandt Atkins, CLCS

LEAD CONSULTANT

Brandt Atkins joined KBIC Consulting in 2024 after serving as an independent agent for nearly 28 years. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, having served four years of active duty.

 As Lead Consultant for the Property & Casualty division, Brandt focuses on insurance risk management, client relations, contract and policy review, claims review, and broker relationships. With nearly three decades of industry experience and a CLCS (Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist) designation, he is recognized for his transparency, clear communication, problem-solving skills, and client advocacy. He brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach that helps clients make confident decisions.

Outside of work, Brandt enjoys traveling with his wife, playing golf, spending time at the lake, and competing in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments.

Chris Medeiros, CEBS

LEAD CONSULTANT

Chris Medeiros, CEBS has been with the KBIC Team since 2023 and is a Lead Consultant in our Health & Welfare practice. Chris has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation and primarily serves larger clients across a broad range of industries, with a particular emphasis on supporting self-funded clients in achieving sustainable and strategic benefits solutions.

Before joining KBIC, Chris spent nine years as an account manager at an employee benefits firm. This experience gave him firsthand insight into the challenges businesses face when sponsoring an employee benefits program. With this knowledge of the brokerage side of the employee benefits business, Chris brings a unique perspective to KBIC’s clients in his role as a fiduciary consultant.

Outside of KBIC, Chris is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and volunteers as a youth soccer coach. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife and two sons and enjoys golfing, reading non-fiction, and spending time with his family.

Liam Dennis, CIC

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Liam Dennis began his career at KBIC Consulting as an intern in 2022 and joined full-time after graduating from Butler University with a double major in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance. A former student-athlete, Liam competed on Butler’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams, where he developed the discipline and perseverance that continue to guide his professional career.

Liam holds the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation and has built expertise across both health and welfare benefits and property & casualty insurance. He has served as a Health & Welfare Account Manager for three years and as a Property & Casualty Account Manager for one year, with a focus on builder’s risk exposures, real estate development companies, asset management firms, and contractors. Known for his problem-solving ability, client service, and commitment to building trust, Liam delivers thoughtful solutions that help clients confidently navigate risk.

Outside of work, Liam enjoys staying active through recreational basketball, mountaineering, and travel.

Sonya Cowles

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Sonya Cowles has been with the KBIC Team since 2020 and serves as an Account Manager in both our Health & Welfare and Property & Casualty practices. Having previously been a KBIC client herself, Sonya brings a unique perspective to her work, allowing her to understand firsthand the client experience and translate that insight into thoughtful, high-quality service.

Sonya brings more than 25 years of diverse experience in operations, quality, safety, human resources and public outreach across the aggregate, industrial mineral, and construction industries. She has implemented Safe Food Safe Feed and ISO programs, managed safety, and quality compliance, and applied Lean Six Sigma methodology to strengthen processes, improve efficiency, and deliver measurable results.

Over the course of her career, she has especially valued working with small, greenfield, and family-owned businesses—experiences that gave her a deep appreciation for the vision, sacrifice, and determination it takes to bring ideas to life and build lasting success.

Drawing on her extensive leadership background, Sonya is skilled at simplifying complex challenges, implementing practical solutions, and fostering strong relationships. Combined with her experience as a former KBIC client, she brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach that helps organizations gain clarity and confidence in their benefits and insurance strategies.

Maclain Hastings

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Maclain Hastings joined KBIC Consulting in 2024 as an Account Manager in the Property & Casualty division. He began his insurance career at GEICO, gaining three years of experience and valuable insight into both carrier and client perspectives before transitioning to the agency side.

At KBIC, Maclain is recognized for his client-first mindset, thoroughness, and ability to deliver creative solutions that ensure clients receive the best possible coverage strategies. His passion for problem-solving and dedication to service make him a trusted resource to both clients and colleagues.

Maclain is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Management and Marketing while competing as a student-athlete and team captain on the men’s soccer team.

Outside of work, he lives in Fishers, Indiana, with his wife and their young puppy. He enjoys playing soccer, spending time outdoors, and serving alongside his wife at New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown.

Mike Ganey

Controller

Mike Ganey, CPA has been with the KBIC Team since its inception in 2010 and serves as the firm’s Controller. Mike earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and brings decades of leadership and financial expertise to his role.

Prior to joining KBIC, Mike served as Treasurer of K’s Merchandise in Decatur, IL, Vice President of Peabody Energy, and Vice President of Amax Coal Company. After departing from corporate leadership, he established his own independent accounting practice, which he successfully operated for 25 years before bringing his experience to KBIC.

Outside of KBIC, Mike lives in St. Louis with his wife, Marilyn. He enjoys cooking and sharing his recipes, as well as spending time with his family.
